NEW YORK CITY / - 10.1.14 - The Empire State

I'm writing this as a seperate post because I felt my NY posts were getting too long, and I think these pictures deserve some credit because they're beautiful!

In the evening we went up the Empire State and IT WAS SO BREATHTAKING (and so worth $30!)

Sadly, that was the last of the pictures of New York because the last 2 days we just spent shopping around Times Square and a good 24 hours travelling. The plane journey and especially the coach journey back to Nottingham from Heathrow seemed like the longest ever and I just wanted to be home in bed!

However, it was THE BEST week of my life. I'm so glad I went and was so lucky that everything went perfectly, I had so much fun and I learned a lot while I was there, and would LOVE to go back to New York again! (I'm getting emotional writing this, I really want to go back ha!)

NEW YORK CITY / Day 5 - 10.1.14 - The high line & Chelsea Market

The last proper day, which was quite relaxed even though the rainy weather was inconvenient! In the morning, a group of us went walking up and on the high line, which used to be a train which ran throughout Manhattan where Milk, meat, produce, and manufactured goods could be transported and unloaded without disturbing traffic. I took some good pictures of the high line as well as the roads below.

Underneath this, was Chelsea Market. I thought it was a very small market, but it was so cute! There were so many café's and cupcake shops in there, we spent a good few hours in there. 

After that, I went to visit the Tom Ford store and asked them some questions about Tom Ford for my zine, and they were so lovely and told me all their best seller clothes, shoes, menswear and fragrances. She even gave us every fragrance sample and her business card! I felt so welcome and she helped me a lot. On the same road, was Ralph Lauren which amazed me because it felt like they owned the street! There were 3 Ralph Lauren stores: One for Menswear, One for Womenswear and one for children! We went into the womenswear store and picked up some Ralph Lauren brand-zines for the jewellery (as the assistant insisted!) which were so beautifully layed out! The assistant looked like a better looking-American version of Prince William; it was weird! I also got to try on a $73,000 ring on which also made my day. I had a lovely experience in Chelsea! 

NEW YORK CITY / Day 4 - 9.1.14 - Williamsburg, Brooklyn (The best day! LONG POST SORRY)

I can most definitely say that Brooklyn is one of my favourite cities! Even though it looks like a run-down, empty place, (which may have been due to the cold weather as well) it's so full of art and culture and (weirdly) picturesque in a creative way! Williamsburg is a cute little town where almost every brick wall or metal fence is covered in graffiti art and it's fantastic. It also has cute little cafés (we stopped at one to have REAL AMERICAN PANCAKES, they were beautiful) and cute little (rather expensive) boutiques and it's just so cute! Also, the visual merchandising in these boutiques were A-MAZING. They were so unique, and the people were absolutely lovely and helpful! Here are some pictures I took in Williamsburg: 

We then visited the "I hate perfume" store which looked at 'perfume' in a very different way... this store sold perfumes of all different scents and smells, from scents of different types of wood, plants, herbs, cakes and chocolates! It was very weird...

We then went to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition which was the most extraordinary exhibition I've ever been to. All of the manikins wearing his designs had faces projected on them which pretended to speak and stare at you (and was quite scary actually) but each room in the exhibition was different and his work was absolutely amazing. Fortunately, we were allowed to take pictures!
